COVID-19 claims 711,220 lives worldwide, infects over 18 million people so far

Coronavirus has claimed 711,220 lives worldwide so far and infected 18,977,637 people, while 12,166,746 patients have been recuperated.

The number of people infected with corona in the United States has risen to 4,973,568 and the total number of deaths has reached 161,601.

In Brazil, 2,862,761 people have been infected with the disease and 97,418 have died. India is the third worst-hit country by the coronavirus, with 1,964,536 patients and 40,739 deaths.

In Russia, 866,627 people have been infected by Corona while the total death toll rose to 14,490.

The death toll from Coronavirus in South Africa has risen nearly 9,290, with 529,877 people affected.

In Peru, the death tally has jumped to 20,228, with 447,624 infections.

On the other hand, Mexico reported 456,100 cases so far with 49,698 fatalities.

The coronavirus has infected more than 364,720 people in Chile and left 9,792 dead.

Number of cases in Spain has climbed to 352,847, with 28,499 deaths.

In UK, the virus infections reached 307,184 and death toll rose to 46,364.

The number of people infected with the coronavirus in Iran has jumped to 317,483 and 17,802 have been died.

The data collected by AFP from national authorities and information from the World Health Organization (WHO), probably reflect only a fraction of the actual number of infections. Many countries are testing only symptomatic or the most serious cases.
